You Got Style is our fantastic style gallery where you can send us your photos wearing your Marakye jewellery for us to publish. If your photo is published in our blog then you will be sent a free gift.

With my ever growing jewellery collection I could fill this category with photos but no one wants to be looking at me all day so go on & send your photos to marakye@westnet.com.au with “You Got Style” in the subject line.

And remember they don’t have to be glam shots we just want you to show off your bling!

copy-of-img_8096.jpgThis is a photo of me (Kylie) with one of our older style beaded chokers. I have not worn it for quite a while but the diamond shaped centre bead combined with the beaded tassels made it the perfect piece to finish off my outfit.

Photos will be published entirely at our discretion and may be removed at any time without notice.

Welcome to 2008

Well 2008 has had a refreshing start and Marakye has had a bit of botox (not quite a face lift but on the way!)…
In 2008 we will be focussing on jewellery and bath products and by limiting our stock ranges to these we will be able to bring you the most stunning new designs that we have found not only here in Australia but from all over the country and around the world.
Over the coming months you will see some graphics changes on our web site as the toy images are replaced with some of our exciting new jewellery ranges. Bear with us… it all takes time!
We have introduced a Bridal Jewellery Category and have a tonne of brand new suppliers on board with lots of new jewellery popping into our store in the coming weeks.
As our newsletter members list grows at an epic rate we have decided to reduce our newsletters to one per month. Our inbox is increasingly filling with all of the great newsletters that we subscribe to and we are sure yours are as well so although we have so much to tell you we think it is important not to clutter your inboxes as well.

So sit back and enjoy our newsletter and grab a cuppa and browse our new web site.

What is a Fresh Water Pearl?

A fresh water pearl is a pearl that has been cultered inside a mussel in a lake. A traditional pearl is cultered in an oyster in the ocean, they are salt water pearls, often called Akoya pearls. For this reason Fresh Water Pearls are less expensive than Akoya pearls but to some people they have more appeal due to the variation in colour and shape.

So What is a Cultured Pearl?
There is a common myth that cultured pearls are immitation or fake pearls.. this is not true.
The actual forming process of both cultured and natural pearls is almost the same. The difference is that for a pearl to form an irritation (such as a grain if sand) occurs within the shell, a substance is then secreted that eventually forms a pearl. The difference is that with a natural pearl the nucleus gets there on its own and with a cutlured pearl it is put there by someone – the forming process then takes the same path and a gorgeous pearl is formed

What are our Bath & Beauty Products Made of? January 31, 2008

Filed under: Bath & Beauty — marakye @ 9:23 am

img_6497.jpg Our gorgeous range of fragrant bath and beauty products all come form a proudly Australian owned company run by an Aussie Work at Home Mum.

The products are made in the Swan Valley in Perth, Western Australia using traditional soap chandlery methods and their own unique recipes. They are made using premium grade essential oils, farm grown herbs, botanicals and plant extracts as well as the finest quality pure sweet almond, coconut and vegetable oils available.

The range of products are poured, cut and wrapped by hand!

The soaps are ideal for people with sensitive skin or skin conditions, as they do not contain any artificial ingredients, Petro-chemicals or harsh detergents like commercial soaps normally do and best of all they are a lot more environment friendly.

They also make my office smell divine with their gorgeous fragrances.

Our Beautiful Country January 31, 2008

As the Australia theme week goes on in my children’s day care for this week I was inspired to write about our great country. Although I have seen a lot of Australia and a lot more than many people will in their lifetimes (which I think is very sad) I have by no means seen enough.I was raised in NSW in a town not far from Newcastle (Kurri Kurri) for those of you who know the area. I went to school not far from there, left home, lived in the area and loved it. Then 8 years ago I travelled to the amazing North West and fell in love with the Pilbara. I lived in Port Hedland for the next 8 years travelling around the Kimberly’s and Pilbara regions and experiencing some of the most amazing countryside that Australia has to offer.I do love our sunburnt country and it is a land of sweeping plains, far from the hustle and bustle of the city lights and mayhem that surrounds peak hour. A country that extends so many climates, so many cultures, so many lifestyles all rolled into one and to a certain extent all accepted by our great nation and its population. My love of our country has inspired me to devote a category to our great land so we can share our stories and photos with the world.

One thing that I find amazing is the vast difference between our states (which I will go into in more detail at a later date) but here is Western Australia January 26th marks a very important day. The parks are filled with “Aussies”, the skies are light with fireworks and everywhere you turn you see our great old Aussie flag. So hats off to you all this Australia Day week!

What is an Ammonite? January 31, 2008

Filed under: Jewellery & Accessories — marakye @ 3:49 am

As part of our new sterling silver jewellery range we have some amazing pendants featuring Ammonite.

I hear you asking…. What is an ammonite???ss0037.jpg

Ammonites are one of the widest known marine fossils with a ribbed spiral formed shell. These creatures lived in the sea about 240 – 65 million years ago and became extinct along with the dinasours. They belong to a group of predators known as cephalods, which today have living relatives such as the octopus, squid, nautilus and cuttlefish.

Most ammonite shells are coiled with a series of linked chambers and as the animal grew more chambers were added.

They come in various sizes from that of a truck tyre (Thank goodness they never made that into a pendant!) right down to the tiniest snail.

So when you choose your ammonite remember that you are choosing a tiny piece of history with your very own fossil, each one unique, each one amazingly beautiful and each one from the depths of our great oceans.

We have just added an amazing range of sterling silver ammonite pendants to our store .

Welcome to The Jungle Bar January 31, 2008

Filed under: The Jungle Bar — marakye @ 3:20 am

wine.gifWell I had considered calling this category the coffee lounge but in reality I can not stand coffee and the smell of it just does not give me that warm fuzzy feeling that it does to so many…. So where can we sit around and openly chat about the world & irrelevant topics?

The Jungle Bar of course!

I do love to drag the old heels and a gorgeous new dress from the closet, shake the cobwebs from the hair dryer and splash on some ferfume and make up for a great night on the town…. I do live a good party!

So kick back, relax and speak freely in The Jungle Bar!

And the best part is we are always open…..
