As the Australia theme week goes on in my children’s day care for this week I was inspired to write about our great country. Although I have seen a lot of Australia and a lot more than many people will in their lifetimes (which I think is very sad) I have by no means seen enough.I was raised in NSW in a town not far from Newcastle (Kurri Kurri) for those of you who know the area. I went to school not far from there, left home, lived in the area and loved it. Then 8 years ago I travelled to the amazing North West and fell in love with the Pilbara. I lived in Port Hedland for the next 8 years travelling around the Kimberly’s and Pilbara regions and experiencing some of the most amazing countryside that Australia has to offer.I do love our sunburnt country and it is a land of sweeping plains, far from the hustle and bustle of the city lights and mayhem that surrounds peak hour. A country that extends so many climates, so many cultures, so many lifestyles all rolled into one and to a certain extent all accepted by our great nation and its population. My love of our country has inspired me to devote a category to our great land so we can share our stories and photos with the world.

One thing that I find amazing is the vast difference between our states (which I will go into in more detail at a later date) but here is Western Australia January 26th marks a very important day. The parks are filled with “Aussies”, the skies are light with fireworks and everywhere you turn you see our great old Aussie flag. So hats off to you all this Australia Day week!
